This course is designed for new users to PeopleSoft. This course is a prerequisite to attending the PeopleSoft Fundamentals course. This 2-hour beginner's course initiates new users with a basic introduction and overview of the PeopleSoft system as implemented by UMBC.
After completing this course, the participant should be able to:
Have a basic understanding of the general PeopleSoft product
Know why UMBC implemented PeopleSoft and name the three databases currently being utilized
Identify and define what a chartfield, chartfield string, and Combination Code are, as related to UMBC's PeopleSoft
Know the components of the Finance and Human Resources databases
Have a very basic knowledge of PeopleSoft terminology, specifically as it relates to UMBC's utilization of PeopleSoft
Know the necessary steps, select the correct forms, and understand what procedure to follow to gain security access to the PeopleSoft system
Know where and how to locate help and assistance with the UMBC PeopleSoft product

This two-hour course is designed for UMBC staff responsible for generating State Funding reports and interpreting the data on the reports. This course is a prerequisite to the Reconciling Non-project State Accounts course beginning in July 2006. This course will cover the following objectives:
- Discuss basic accounting terminology
- Identify and discuss State Funding specific Chartfields
- Discuss the rules for using State funding chartfields
- Identify the four basic types of State Budget reports, understand the type of information each report provides for decision making

Designed for PeopleSoft users reponsible for completing Retro and/or DBE forms, this three-hour scenerio-based class presents the process and steps necessary to successfully complete both forms. By the end of this session, you will be able to identify and use the necessary PeopleSoft inquiries to successfully complete both the Retro and DBE forms. A familiarity with PeopleSoft navigation and reports is recommended to attend this class.
